SPEND SMARTER
The coffee maker price is only the beginning.
Pods, filters, serving sizes, and your daily routine all belong in the comparison.
Compare your daily routine first
One mug on the way out the door and a pot shared around the kitchen table call for different setups. The K-Mini Mate is a pod brewer, the OXO is a manual pour-over, and the BLACK+DECKER brews a carafe.
Calculate your own cost per cup
For pods, divide the package price by its pod count. For ground coffee, use the amount you actually use per brew, then include any disposable filters. Multiply by your weekly cup count. Your own prices and habits are more useful than a generic savings claim.
Count what you need to add
The OXO needs hot water from a separate source. Include a kettle if you do not own one. For any coffee maker, check the included accessories and the cost of replacement items before comparing the total.
Watch the word cup
A coffee maker's cup marking may be smaller than your mug. BLACK+DECKER describes its carafe cups as approximately five ounces. Compare ounces when you are choosing between single-serve and carafe models.
